10 Things to ACTUALLY Pack on a Trip to Hawaii
When packing for a trip to Hawaii, it's easy to overpack…or not pack the right things. In this post, I share some packing tips on what to ACTUALLY pack on a trip to Hawaii. Remember to prioritize lightweight, breathable clothing, including swimsuits, shorts, and T-shirts. Don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat to protect against the sun.
Pack comfortable footwear for exploring, reef-safe sunscreen for water adventures (snorkeling, swimming, etc.), and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. Bring a light jacket for cooler evenings. A waterproof phone case and a portable charger are handy for beach outings.

#1: Polarized Sunglasses
Polarized Sunglasses
C02-glossy Black | Black | Black Rim
Having polarized sunglasses for a day on the beach is a game changer. I usually pack 2 pairs on any trips.
#2: Lightweight clothing
Hawaii's weather is humid. Lightweight breathable fabrics such as cotton are the best to pack.
#3: Towel (check with hotel or Air BnB), Sarong
Sarong
(Size: Small | Color: 1-floral)
Love these! You can double it as a beach towel in a pinch!
Turkish Towel
(Color: Mint Green)
These thinner Turkish towels are the best to pack since they are so light. The sarongs can also double as a towel in a pinch.
#4: Maxi Dresses
Maxi Dress
(Size: Small | Color: Floral 09)
These are the best to pack for evening events (luaus, dinner cruises, etc).
#5: Portable Battery Charger
Volta Battery Pack
(Go pro separate)
This is a MUST if you're filming or taking a lot of photos on a GoPro. Rather than relying on having extra GoPro batteries, this Volta battery holds a 4-hour charge. Plus, it doubles as a tripod.
#6: Clear Bags
Organizer Bags
(Color: Black – 4 Pack )
These are my favorite to organize my beach bag, travel bag, or carry-on. These clear bags are inexpensive and are the best way to keep things sorted.
#7: Refillable Water Container
Water Container
(22oz, Color: Aquamarine)
Avoid the $6 airport water. This Hydroflask dupe comes with a carabiner lid so it can clip on the OUTSIDE of your beach bag (or personal item in-flight) so there is no chance if it leaking inside your bag.
#8: Hiking Backpack
Hiking backpack
(Size: 50 oz | Color: Lapis Blue/White Stripe)
Love this one! It's large enough to store your phone, wallet, and sunscreen. This is my favorite bag to bring hiking.
#9: Belt Bag (Lululemon)
Belt Bag
(Lululemon Athletica Everywhere Belt Bag, Black, 7.5 x 5 x 2 inches)
This is one of my favorite small bags for a day trip.
#10: Eye mask & ear plugs
The BEST eye mask
(Gel eye mask)
This is a MUST for good sleep. I have these to use in-flight or in my hotel room. This is especially useful if you are staying at a hotel which is on the main Waikiki strip and the room is facing the street (rather than the ocean). On weekends, there's often street performers who can gather a crowd with music – and if you have an early morning 6am tour, an eye mask and ear plugs is a small thing that helps me get good, solid sleep.
