Traveling can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to packing. What bags should you bring? What will fit your needs? What will look stylish? In this article, we will discuss 19 of the best travel bags, from personal items to active bags to day-to-day bags to luggage.
As someone who travels frequently having a quality bag is key. These are all bags that I purchased with my own money. If you have a travel bag that you absolutely love, comment down below I would love to check it out!
We split the bags in four (4) categories:
- Personal
- Active
- Day-to-Day
- Luggage
PERSONAL BAGS
Bag #1: Travel Backpack
This is one of my absolute favorite travel bags when I want to be hands-free. There are lots of compartments plus a laptop sleeve.
The backpack opening has a wire structure. I also loved that it looks a bit more “professional” instead of like a backpack that one might bring to school. The top handle buttons together and you can also tuck in the backpack straps to tote it like a purse.

Bag #2: Combo Backpack/Purse
This is my go-to bag for a polished look. The straps can pull up and it turns into a larger crossbody bag. It’s perfect for going from flight to train where you might want your backpack/bag in front of you – rather than behind you.
There’s also compartments in this one to keep you organized.

Bag #3: Duffel Bag
This is one of my FAVORITE personal item bags when I am going on a longer trip. I’ll pair this with my AWAY Carry-on luggage. This duffel bag is roomy and has a trolley sleeve so I can attach it to my carry-on luggage.
It’s also a great option as a weekender bag for when I island hop for a few days. If you are traveling on the mainland, this is the perfect size to use as a larger personal item for budget-airlines such as Spirit Airlines that charge for carry-ons.

Bag #4: Clear bags to organize
I love using these clear bags to keep similar items together. I’ll usually use 1 for all my camera cords, 1 for toiletries, 1 for misc items, and 1 spare one.

Bag #5: Colorful clear bag
This is another great option if you prefer to color code your items to make it easier to grab them.
Color: Color: White Yellow Pink Light Blue, 4 Pack

Bag #6: Packing Cubes
The next bag is packing cubes. Unlike other packing cubes that are flimsy, these have a wire on the side, giving it a more structured frame. It is also thinner than most, allowing you to stack two on top of each other. It comes in different sizes, and is great for organizing your items.
Colors: Lemon Yellow / Lemon Green

ACTIVE BAGS
Bag #7: 35L Dry Bag
The seventh bag is a dry bag. This is a great option for longer boat trips or if you are traveling with a friend. It is padded, has clips for water bottles, and an outside pocket. It rolls up and clips shut, keeping all of your items nice and dry.
Color: Yellow (35L)

Bag #8: 25L Dry Bag
This is my go-to bag on most snorkeling boat trips. If you have been following the channel for awhile, this 25L Turquoise bag is in most of my videos. It’s the perfect size to stash all my electronics (camera, mics, GoPro, etc) and keeps my towel dry. I usually pair it with a carabiner to clip on any slippers/sandals.

Color: Turquoise (25L)
Bag #9: 10L Dry Bag
The ninth bag is a 10 liter dry bag. This is a great option for outdoor activities, such as ATV tours. It has a clear window, and folds up and clips shut. It also has an adjustable clip, making it more comfortable to carry.
I used this bag when I went to Kualoa Ranch for their ATV tour. It kept all of our electronics, wallets, and phones dry when we were driving around streams splashing muddy water everywhere.

Bag #10: Hiking Backpack, 2L
The tenth bag is a hiking backpack. This is a great option if you are looking for a bag that is both stylish and functional. It has a few different compartments, including a two liter water bladder, and adjustable clips to make it more comfortable. It also has a whistle, which is great for hiking.
The inside is also insulated to keep your water cold.

Bag #11: Hiking Backpack, Camelback mini back (50oz)
This smaller backpack is what I like to use for short hikes (under 1-2 hours) such as Diamond Head Crater or Koko Head Crater.

Bag #12: Belt Bag
The twelfth bag is a belt bag, or fanny pack. It has two separate compartments, and can be worn as a shoulder bag or cross-body. It is great for hiking, as it keeps your hands free.

Bag #13: Clear Bag
The thirteenth bag is a clear bag. This is the most common type of clear bag, and is great for stadiums, museums, or traveling to Hawaii.

Bag #14: Stylish Clear Bag
The fourteenth bag is a more stylish clear bag. It is completely clear, but has a little bit of gold hardware. It also has a cloth strap, making it more fashionable than the other basic clear bag.

I swapped out the gold strap for this pink/brown cloth strap:

Another great stylish clear option if you prefer your bag to have a zipper.

DAY-TO-DAY BAGS
Bag #15: Tote Bag
The fifteenth bag is a tote bag. It is super thin and light, and has a front pocket for quick access. It is great for beach trips, or for shopping. Hawaii charges $0.15 per bag when shopping at grocery stores, for example. Having a flat tote bag to fold easily in your suitcase works great for carrying things to/from the beach, the pool, or even for grabbing a quick snack at the ABC store.
Color: Tan

Bag #16: Crossbody
The sixteenth bag is a simple crossbody bag. It is by Kate Spade, and is a nice structured purse. It is black, and can be dressed up or down. It is great for traveling, as it is simple and matches with everything.

Bag #17: ALOHA Collection Mid Splash-Proof Travel Pouches
I’ll toss in one of these with my beach bag to keep my cell phone and wallet dry. These also double as a wet swimsuit bag.

LUGGAGE
Bag #18: AWAY Checked Luggage
(Medium, Color: Coast)
The eighteenth bag is the Away checked luggage. It is a medium-sized bag in the color coast, which is a darker color. This is great for checked luggage, as it won’t get dirty as quickly as a lighter color.
Bag #19: AWAY Carry-in Luggage
(Carry-on size, Color: White)
The nineteenth bag is the Away carry-on suitcase. It is white, and has a built-in battery pack. This is great for charging your phone at the gate, or on the plane. It is also a hard shell, making it great for packing light.
Traveling can be a daunting task, but with the right bags, it can be much easier. From personal items to active bags to day-to-day bags to luggage, there is a bag for every need. Whether you are looking for something stylish or functional, there is a bag for you. With these 19 bags, you can be sure to find the perfect bag for your next trip.
